Take a screen recording on iPhone 12

Posted on April 13, 2022 by admin

To save what happens on your iPhone’s screen, you can take a screenshot. But when capturing a sequence of events is important, a screen capture video is your best option. Fortunately, it’s easy to record the screen on your iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, or 12 Pro Max. Here’s how.

What is a screen recording?

On your iPhone 12, a screenshot captures a still image, but a screen capture instantly captures a video that mirrors everything you do on your iPhone’s screen, including notifications, apps, games, and more. You can use it to solve problems, share actions with others, create tutorial videos, and other tasks. Please note that you cannot capture screen while using Screen Mirroring.

Enable the “Screen Recording” button

To use Screen Recording on your iPhone 12, you need to enable a dedicated “Screen Recording” button in the Control Center. (As you remember, you can open Control Center by swiping down from the battery icon in the top-right corner of the screen.)

First, open the Settings app to get started.

In Settings, select “Control Center”.

In Settings, tap "Control Center"

In the Control Center options, swipe down until you see the “More controls” list. Find “Screen Recording” (with the plus sign next to it) and tap it.

In the control panel settings, tap "Screen capture" to add it to the "Controls included" list.

After that, you will see “Screen Recording” in the “Included Controls” list above. To rearrange the keyboard shortcuts, you can tap and drag the items into a specific order that appears when you open Control Center. When you’re done arranging, exit the Settings app – it’s time to record!

With the Screen Capture shortcut added to the Control Center (see the section above), you’re ready to capture a shot. To do this, first open the Control Center: swipe down with one finger from the top right corner of the screen near the battery icon.

In Control Center, you’ll see the Screen Capture button (a circle within another circle). Tap the button once to record without audio. To record audio from your microphone while recording a screen, press and hold the Screen Recording button.

Press "Screen capture" button in the Control Center.

If you’ve held down the Screen Capture button, you’ll see a special pop-up screen. To record audio from your microphone, tap the microphone button and select ‘Start recording’.

Tap the microphone button, then select "Start recording."

After a three-second countdown, your iPhone 12 will begin recording. The clock in the upper-left corner of the home screen turns red, and the Screen Capture button in the control panel also turns red. If you have the microphone turned on, the recording will also capture audio.

To stop a screen recording, you can do one of two actions. At any time, tap the red clock in the top left corner of the screen, then tap “Stop” in the popup that appears.

Tap the red time in the top left corner, then select "Stop."

You can also open Control Center and tap the red Screen Recording button.

Press "Screen capture" button in the Control Center.

Either way, the screen recording will stop and you will see a confirmation saying “Screen recording video saved in Photos”, which means that the captured screen recording video is now in your default Photos library.

Read confirmation on iPhone "Screen capture video saved in Photos."

To view (or share) your screenshot later, open the Photos app. You will see the video thumbnail of the screen recording between your photos and videos. You can also edit the video using the built-in editing features of the Photos app, which helps if you want to reduce the action of starting or stopping the video. Have fun recording!
