Google officially released the Pixel 6a recently, on May 11, at the early Google I/O event. In the tradition of the A-series, the Pixel 6a is a more stripped-down version of its more expensive counterparts: the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. In terms of design, this translates into a smaller screen (6.1″), a thinner camera strip on the back of the phone, but also smaller dimensions.
At PhoneArena, we can’t wait to get our hands on the Pixel 6a so we can compare it to its siblings and others and see how it performs in real life. Does the smaller size translate into a different hand feel compared to the Pixel 6?
Well, since Google has indicated that we will have to wait until July 28 to actually buy the Pixel 6a, for now all we have to do is use the specs we have on paper, provided by the search giant. So let’s dive in and see how full mental image we can get by comparing the latest budget pixel with other handsets.
Pixel 6a vs Pixel 6 vs Pixel 6 Pro
Starting with a comparison between all the Pixel 6 models seems rather fitting, as they generally share nearly identical designs.
As mentioned, the budget-oriented 6a is smaller than its two older brothers. With the three phones placed on top of each other as shown above, it almost feels like there’s an invisible curve going from left to right, which corresponds to a price-to-size ratio.
It appears that the Pixel 6a is small enough to give a noticeably different look and feel compared to the more advanced models. Keep in mind that both the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are very big phones to start with, so while the 6a looks smaller, it still can’t be considered a “compact” phone.
Pixel 6a vs Pixel 5a vs Pixel 4a vs Pixel 3a XL
It’s the novice against its predecessors, the results look intriguing!
In 2019, Google tried its XL version in a larger size with the A-series, when Google wasn’t quite sure what it wanted to do with its lineup. Well, the Pixel 6a seems to be the answer the tech giant and its fans have been looking for.
It really feels like the 6a has struck the perfect middle ground when it comes to size, which is somewhere between the larger 3a XL/Pixel 5a and the smaller Pixel 4a.
Pixel 6a vs iPhone SE (2022)
The differences between Apple’s most affordable device and Google’s are night and day.
The Pixel 6a is clearly the more modern looking phone here, it’s hard to disprove that fact. The only thing for the . If the iPhone SE (2022) goes in terms of design, the fact is that it can really be called a compact phone by today’s standards. However, if you’re looking for a bigger and better screen, the winner is obvious here.
It’s somewhat funny that both phones go for very similar price tags, especially when you see them sitting side by side.
Pixel 6a vs OnePlus Nord 2 vs Galaxy S21 FE
How does the Pixel 6a compare to other similarly priced Android phones?
Interestingly enough, it seems that the Pixel 6a is the smallest compared to the competition from Samsung and OnePlus. Of course, that also means a smaller screen size, so it really depends on what you’re looking for more in a budget phone when it comes to size: more screen or a smaller form factor?
