Netflix is introducing a new feature designed exclusively for the youngest viewers. In a blog post, the “Mystery Box” streaming service announced a new fun way for kids to discover new shows or “reconnect with a familiar face.”
Now when the little ones log into their child’s profile, a new sparkling box with a question mark will appear in the favorites row at the top of the Netflix home page. When they hover over the new box, it plays a preview of a completely random TV show or movie they probably don’t know. And after that, as Netflix said, “It’s showtime.”
As the streaming giant noted, it’s hard for them to try new things because kids are “attracted to what they like.” That’s why Netflix wants to offer the little ones a fun and safe place to discover their next favorite series and movies with “Mystery Box”.
It’s good to see that the streaming service continues to make efforts to make the platform safer and more fun for children. In 2020, Netflix introduced better parental controls so parents can see what their kids have seen and filter or block titles that may not be appropriate for their kids’ ages.
Last year, Netflix also introduced biweekly kids summary emails, helping parents better understand what their kids like. At the time, the streaming service also added the Kids Top 10 Rows feature, which lists the top ten most popular kids shows or movies in your country.
