Microsoft confirms new issues in Windows 10 June 2022 updates

Posted on June 19, 2022 by admin

The Windows 10 June 2022 Cumulative Update is now available for all supported operating system versions. This month’s cumulative update fixed several issues, including a bug that prevented Microsoft Excel and Outlook from starting. Fixed another bug affecting the Internet Explorer mode window.

While the list of fixes in the June 2022 Update (KB5014699) for Windows 10 is quite long because the company has fixed many issues, Microsoft has also issued a warning. According to the updated release notes, a bug in the Windows 10 June 2022 update could break the operating system’s Wi-Fi hotspot function.

It is quite common to use a smartphone or tablet as a personal hotspot to share the super fast 5G wireless internet connection with other devices at any time. On Windows it is also possible to create a hotspot and share the internet with other devices. You can even use Windows 10’s built-in hotspot feature as a Wi-Fi extender.

After Windows 10 June 2022 Update, users may not be able to use the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. This has been confirmed in reports on Feedback Hub:

“After installing KB5014699 I had problems with network connections resetting every 5 minutes. This includes RDP sessions, SMB sessions and a session between the bridge and an IoT device. When I disabled the Network Bridge, I need for my work with the IoT device, the problem is gone,” said one of the affected users.

“Turning on Internet Connection Sharing will break the ability to access the Internet on the computer sharing the connection. Even sites running on localhost will run forever and time out,” commented another user on.

“Enabling ICS also destroys the ability to RDP to computers connected to the network adapter that shares the Internet connection. Notably, I can still connect to port 3389 via telnet on the computer sharing the connection, but the RDP client just runs “Configure Remote Session” forever, one of the affected users explained how the bug also broke RDP .

Microsoft now has silent documentation to flag a bug where users encounter unexpected issues when using the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. If you are affected by this, the host device may lose its connection to the Internet.

In other words, this bug can destroy your device’s Wi-Fi. If your device’s internet connection has been acting weird lately, it’s probably because of the cumulative update. You can resolve the issue and restore Internet access on the host device by disabling the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. Follow these steps to completely disable the Wi-Fi hotspot:

  • Open the Start menu.
  • Open Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile hotspot.
  • Under ‘Share my internet connection from’, make sure the ‘Share my internet connection with other devices’ option is turned off.

In most cases, following these steps should reduce Windows 11’s Wi-Fi issues.

Windows 10 June 2022 Update Issues

In addition to broken Wi-Fi, Microsoft is also aware of another bug in the Windows 10 June 2022 Update where users may not be able to sign in with Azure Active Directory (AAD).

This affects apps and services that use Azure Active Directory and some users may also experience issues with VPN connections, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft OneDrive, and Microsoft Outlook.
