Apple again advertises playing the good samaritan for Governor Newsom’s state of California, whose homelessness and affordable housing problems are reaching crisis proportions.
The example of the success story it provides is the Veterans Square residential complex in Pittsburg, California, which opened this spring in partnership with the California Housing Finance Authority (CalHFA), Destination: Home and Housing Trust Silicon Valley.
The affordable housing project houses 30 units currently occupied by veterans and other people in need, as identified by the state, much to the delight of Kristina Raspe, Apple’s vice president for Global Real Estate and Facilities:

In addition to direct investment in affordable housing, Apple, in partnership with , says it is working with the CalHFA to “mortgages and down payments to thousands of low- and middle-income home buyers for the first time, and launched an affordable residential investment program that has released financing to support nearly 2,000 new units in the state.”
These range from 315 units on Avenue 34 in LA and 340 additional units in Redwood Gardens in Berkeley, to more than 230 affordable homes for families in Chico’s Cedar Village.”also for those affected by the 2018 campfire‘ boasted Apple.
