After some teasing earlier this month, EA has finally released the highly anticipated Apex Legends Mobile on both Android and iOS platforms. The game was soft-launched in a few countries in February, but only Android users could play it.
Starting this week, anyone with a decent Android phone or iPhone/iPad can play Apex Legends Mobile for free. Like the original game for PC and consoles, Apex Legends Mobile is a battle royale shooter with a slew of interesting characters who also play the role of classes. Each character has their unique abilities that suit a particular team role.
This isn’t a simple port of the PC game, though, meaning Apex Legends Mobile has its own Battle Pass with pretty much different rewards than what you get in the original title. If you’re into team-based multiplayer shooters, Apex Legends Mobile is probably at the top of the genre, so you can’t go wrong with this one.
The worldwide release includes a new Legend, Fade, which can be unlocked by reaching level 25 in the free Battle Pass (or by purchasing 10 premium levels and then reaching 15 normal levels), two new game modes that allow players to learn how to play the game or sharpen their skills, as well as a new card (Overflow).
The final build also introduces a new feature that automatically fills a team when another player leaves early (only active in Team Deathmatch). Finally, developers revealed plans to implement a new Emote system that will allow players to better communicate with friends and foes.
Apex Legends Mobile is available for free on Android and iOS through the Google Play Store and App Store† There are no ads in the game, but there are in-app purchases if you want to unlock something in the Battle Pass without playing the game.
