Some of these issues originated from the previous version of macOS Monterey and earlier versions of macOS such as macOS Big Sur.
While some of these issues may require a resolution from Apple, a customer service call or a visit to your existing Apple Store, you can resolve the issues yourself.
In this guide, we’ll take you through solutions to the most advanced macOS Monterey issues we’ve heard of and fixed ourselves.
These solutions have worked for us in the past and can help you avoid a call with support from visiting your existing Apple Store.
Fix MacOS Monterey Download Problems
Some Mac users are having trouble downloading the latest macOS Monterey software update.
You may see download issues if your connection isn’t great. Lost connections and slow download speeds can slow down the download speed.
If you run into download issues, try connecting an Ethernet cable to your Mac to download the latest update. This can fix some download issues and slow downloads.
If you can’t connect an Ethernet cable or if the download issues persist, try restarting your router and/or your Mac. You can also try pausing and restarting the download. In some cases it may be a good idea to restart the download.
If nothing works, take your Mac somewhere with a faster internet connection.
Fix installation problems with macOS Monterey
If you’re having trouble installing macOS Monterey firmware on your Mac, the first thing you need to do is make sure your Mac is compatible with the new operating system. If not, you will not be able to install the software. You can check if your Mac is compatible.
If the download is complete, but you are not prompted to install the operating system on your Mac, go to your Mac’s Applications folder and locate the installation. Double click on the file and the software should start installing on your computer.
If you run into an issue where the installation fails because your little Mac is booting and pressing Control + R during startup. This will put it in recovery mode.

Try to turn Bluetooth off first and then turn it back on. you do this, make sure you have a way to plug in a computer to turn it back on.
If that doesn’t work, try removing the problem Bluetooth device. That’s how you do that:
- Click on the Bluetooth icon in the top right corner of your screen.
- Click on Bluetooth Preferences.
- Click on the device, remove it and start the pairing process.
You can also access your Bluetooth connections through your Mac’s Settings app. The Settings app is the one with the gear icon.

MacOS Monterey Wi-Fi Troubleshooting
If you’re having trouble with your Mac’s Wi-Fi connection, try these solutions.
First click on WiFi in the menu bar and turn it off. Wait 10-15 seconds and turn it back on. This has often solved problems for us in the past.
If you’re still having trouble, see if you can connect to a different Wi-Fi network. If your other devices can connect to the network that your Mac connects to, you can try your Mac and reboot the router.
Apple has a few other solutions you can try, so if they don’t work, go there.
Fix MacOS Monterey FaceTime Problems
If you’re having trouble making or receiving FaceTime calls on your Mac, here’s what you want to do: make sure Apple doesn’t have any service issues. If FaceTime has a green symbol next to it, the problems are probably on your side.
Make sure your Mac is properly connected to your hotspot’s Wi-Fi. If so, FaceTime is not disabled. You can check this by going to the FaceTime app and clicking “FaceTime” in the top left corner.
Once FaceTime has started and you are connected to a cellular network’s Wi-Fi, try restarting your Mac and see if it goes back to normal.
Troubleshoot the macOS Monterey app
If your app works after moving to macOS Monterey, check for an update first. Developers roll out support updates and they can help stabilize an app’s performance.
If you’re still having trouble, try restarting your Mac. If that doesn’t help, you can also try uninstalling and downloading the app again.
If you are unable to resolve the issue yourself, please contact the app developer and make sure they are aware of the issue. If so, there is a possible practice solution for an update that fixes the problem.
Fix performance issues with macOS Monterey
If your Mac starts installing the latest version of macOS Monterey, you know you’re not alone. This is a very common problem.
In general, you should wait about a day to improve the performance of the software. If you’re still having problems after a few days, try restarting your Mac and see if things improve.
Also try installing app updates. Many of them will include optimizations for macOS Monterey.
